Happy Almost-Weekend!

Gia used to be a tiny, fragile baby, weighing in at 4.8lbs at birth. It seems like we were always trying to make her catch up with her peers. Feedings were always at 2-hour intervals, round the clock. Most SGA babies are like that — they follow their own chart.

This was taken when Gia was 5 months old.

And then, the most amazing thing happened. By the time she was 10 months, her attending pediatrician plotted her height in the middle of the graph. She was finally inside the chart (secretly, my thought bubble was : I ain’t 5’9” for nothing!)! And so, her milestones came one after the other, almost too quickly. And before long, we were a tag team at the grocery, in the bank, at the malls!

Grocery Day, May 2011.

Mall Day, December 2011.

Yesterday, I brought her with me to AJ’s parents’ house to pick up something. Almost 3 hours in the car, coming and going. Traffic can be a pain at lunch hour. But not a peep of complaint from the little person in the car seat (well, maybe juuuuust a little fidgeting).
Oh, Gia. :) I love how I can now bring you places!
I can’t wait until you are ready to do arts and crafts with me, paint your toddler nails, and read books out loud.
I can’t wait until you learn how to write your name, draw a flower or a balloon or a heart, and sing songs with real lyrics.
I can’t wait until you pick your own clothes, brave the monkey bars, and dance in the rain.
For now, these happy thoughts will bridge me over til next week.
How about you? What are your happy thoughts?
